I'm having similar problems. I was under the impression that the system restore was
only a viable option if you had actually set a restore point...of which I haven't.
I had actually deleted my CD-Rom accidentally and when Windows rebooted it recognized
it and then asked for me to...get this and go figure...install my Windows XP CD in
the drive so it could get files from there. Hello!?! My CD-ROM isn't working in Windows...how
am I supposed to do that?! LOL...any help would be appreciated. Is there a way to
copy the contents of XP in DOS mode to the hard drive so I can direct it to look
on the hard drive for the files it needs?
