Where's my XP CD?

Remember the old days when you bought a computer, the dealer also gave you the operating
system (providing you purchased it) via CD or diskettes? I guess those days are
over.
I bought a new HP with Microsoft XP the other day. First thing I did was reformat
and partition the disk drive. Bad mistake. I hunted for the XP CD, could not find
it. E-mailed HP tech support only to get canned answers that did not answer my request
for a system recovery CD to be mailed to me.
It seems that HP provides the system recovery CD in the form of a hidden partition
on the hard drive. I had
deleted it when I reformatted. So now I have to Fed-Ex my shiny new computer back
to HP so they can spend 5 minutes reimaging my hard drive.
So why am I writing this? Just to tell you guys to be
careful. Unless you buy XP retail out of the box, your
vendor might only give you a soft copy on your hard
drive. You will not be able to install it on another
machine if your first machine goes *boom*.
Cheers
