Dual Boot and Activation

I just installed the Home Edition Upgrade on a new FAT32 partition, enabling me to dual boot with Windows ME. Eventually, I plan to install XP as my sole operating system, and to remove ME entirely. My game plan would be to reformat my c: drive for NTFS (using Partition Magic 7.0), install XP clean on the new partition, and, again using Partion Magic, delete the old XP partition. Does anyone see a problem with this? Assuming I activate XP before I do this, will I have to re-activate it after, or should I hold off on activating XP until after I install it as my primary o/s?
