I had similar problems, I tried to set up a 2 computer network with the XP machine
having an internal ADSL modem shared to a W98 computer. I wound up using NetBUI
to share the computers, the TCP/IP works fine sharing the internet connection and
all seems fine. The firewall is closed or stealthed according to grc.com for both
computers. The NetBUI protocol for XP is on the XP cd, I had to search to find it,
but is is there. Try using the help file, I think that's where I found what folder
it is in.
Hope that helps, and if anyone has just the TCP/IP working to share the computers,
tell us how.
