I had the same exact problem at first. No errors with the device but it wouldn't
write with various burning software. 2000 and XP require an ASPI manager. Download
LSI's at http://www.lsilogic.com/support/support+drivers/scsi/w2kaspi.html
After installing, if you are using an ATAPI drive, you need to make a change to the
registry.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\AspiXNT\Parameters
If ExcludeMiniports="" then ATAPI devices are enabled.
If ExcludeMiniports="ATAPI", then ATAPI devices
are disabled.
