Power management now seems to need a power manager driver . You are unlikely to be able to obtain one for an older pc . Microsoft seems to want to have the ability to remotely disable computers , presumably when it finds duplicate OS software . This may be the second line of defence after someone comes up with the hardware hashing function to enable xp without a valid licence key . This presumably explains why any device capable of piracy - particularly cd re-writers , scanners etc are needing new drivers - the new drivers will almost certainly have copyright protection embedded instead of a warning about ye lore .Ian.
