Hi...I am assuming that everybody who has posted has been referring to XP Professional,
as oppossed to the Home Edition...but anyways, here's what I've noticed different
about the two:
1. XP still uses basically the same NT Kernel and NTFS file system as 2000, so the
whole engine isn't much different. I'm sure that all of XP's pretty looks, bells,
and whistles have to slow it down a little.
2. XP's Remote Assistance/Administration features are pretty cool. It works pretty
much the same way that a Terminal Server connection does in Win2k server. This is
something that Win2k Professional doesn't have, so I would upgrade just for this
feature....but I don't feel the upgrade is worth it if your using Win2k Server.
3. XP's multimedia features smoke Win2k's. If your somebody that does a lot of
work with graphics and sounds, I definitely suggest upgrading to XP; however, if
your somebody like me that just needs an OS that is reliable and you need to get
your work done quickly, stick with Win2k.
