I find XP to be fast, reliable and doesn't freeze or crash like the previous Windows ME/98 versions. Although XP doesn't endorse the drivers on my printer and modem it works with them. I also disagree that Linux is not a good system. I run Redhat 7.2 on another computer, share ICS with Windows XP and enjoy the challenge of an alternative operating system.
