XP 'System Information' not working

After using WinXP for a bit, I noticed that the System Information feature is not
launching (Accessories/System Tools/System Information). It was initially working
okay after first installing XP. When clicked, it appears to try to launch with some
hard drive activity for several seconds, then nothing. Anyone else experienced this
or know of a solution?

As a separate question, does anyone have any good feedback on which gives them the
fastest system response times using the Virtual Memory settings (Control Panel/System/Advanced/Performance,
Settings/Advanced/Virtual Memory, Change) of either a system-managed size or a custom
size. Have used both system-managed and custom of 768/768 fixed (512Mb RAM on my
machine), but don't notice a big difference. Also, XP seems a little sluggish on
window loading, etc., compared to Win98 (when using the enhanced window bar and button
cosmetics). The price you pay for purty graphics?

Thanks!
