Just a quick point. When you create a partition to install XP alongside 98, if you choose NTFS format for XP, you won't see the XP partition from within 98 if you choose to dual boot. Have a look at a free program called "MBRwork" at www.terabyteunlimited.com/freestuff.htm When it sees a drive with a zeroed-out partition, it opens a new menu and offers to restore FAT and NTFS partitions. That's all I can offer I'm afraid - I hope it helps.
