If the program you are trying to uninstall has its own uninstall icon in the folder it is stored or in its program group in the start menu, right click on the unistall program and select properties then select compatibility. Put a tick in the 'run this in compatibiltiy mode' box and select windows 98 from the drop down list. It is supposed to in theory convince windows xp it is windows 98.
