I work at an ISP, and there is no possible way you can connect at 56K. The FCC regulates the connection speed to the max of 53kbps. If its taking 3 times to connect then its the modem strings. Try going to www.jenera.com/modems and finding your modem and testing with the strings, also try 3 commas after the phone number. If you can connect fine at night and slow speeds during the day then your ISP's modem racks may be filling up. and that would also go for taking you 3 times to connect to a higher speed.
