cd-rw detected as cd-rom in XP. Help Please!

My Windows XP professional will only recognize my cd-rw as cd-rom. I even tried
a brand new cd-rw, but still was detected by XP in MyComputer as cd-rom.
I am so frustrated. I have read and tried everything I could.
HINT: When I installed the same cd-rw on another computer with Windows XP, the cd-rw
was detected by that XP just fine (as cd-rw)???!!!???!!!
