They told you What !? My Pavilion hasn't exactly taken to XP seemlessly, but I have
not encountered the problems described in this thread. Instead, I've had to install
all sorts of new software to access things like my CD-Writer Plus 8100i which doesn't
seem to want to play audio CDs through anything but My DVD software or WMP. The
most difficult problem I have so far is getting Norton Antivirus to work. My desktop
icon has a big red X through it and LiveUpdate doesn't detect my cable modem although
all my other software, ie. Firewall, etc. can.
I've contacted my ISP and they confirm my LAN settings are correct. I have a query
in to Symantec. It's my last hurdle.
I've had to reinstall XP a few times and revert back to prior settings. At one point,
I couldn't even get the Help menu open. I converted the system to NTFS since I couldn't
get back to Windows 98 anyway. Now it's running much more smoothly.
