I have done exactly the thing that you want to do. I advise against upgrading.
I have returned to 98 because none of my hard ware such as printer scanner modem
etc works because the drivers do not exist or xp has trouble finding them with good
drivers. Unless all of your hardware is plug and play dont upgrade!
