USB Camera problem

I have an Intel USB camera that used to work fine under Win98. It failed to install
correctly when I upgraded to XP. Intel now has updated drivers for XP, but I'm having
trouble getting it installed.

When I install the drivers through Control Panel/Device Manager/Update Driver, it
hangs when it is almost finished. I was finally able to uninstall the device thinking
that XP would detect it again when I plugged it back in. It didn't detect it.

I have tried to totally remove the USB controller device to start over again. But
when I try to uninstall it, it also hangs.

Can anyone tell me how I might be able to go about getting XP to recognize this device
(or totally remove the USB controller/devices so that it will redetect it on boot)?

Thanks in advance.
