Don't lose hope -- this may get your data back. (What better example can there be
of a reason to do a full data backup -- as Microsoft repeatedly advises -- before
upgrading????) Visit the Microsoft Product Support Services webpage at http://support.microsoft.com/
and do a search referring to their article #Q307153 and that might help you successfully
complete the XP installation and recover your data. I used their advice and it worked
just fine. Microsoft has excellent advice when you can just locate it...
