re: Question about 'Connect to a Windows XP or 2000 system with a Windows 95, 98, or Me system over a Network' Wednesday, January 30, 2002 at 12:44 pm Windows XP Annoyances Discussion Forum Posted by Mazin Darghous (4 messages posted) its extremely strange... on the xp computer i am able to see the name of the other computer... but if im not "connected" then how in gods name did it find out that the other computer is called "slave-2k"? i have precisely the same protocols installed on both machines including netbeui and am able to ping the local machine but attempts to contact the other fail, even though it may show up in the network window.
