I have the same configuration as Salvail
and removing the "upper" and "lower" in
the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ControlSet001\
Control\Class. Worked perfectly. They are referred to
as "filters" if I'm not mistaken.
Easy CD is definitely the culprit.
