I had exactly the same problem. I discovered later that the cause was an expired ISP account, rather than an operating system error. I would try to resolve this by getting a short-term internet access account with a limited number of hours, which is the way most people access the internet here in Thailand. That way, you can eliminate your existing ISP as being the source of the problem.
