I have the same problem, and checking the disk doesn't report any problems with the
MFT. Although I used the WinXP check disk tool, maybe Norton would yeild better
results.
The dir can be erased in safe mode, but it just re-appears on normal boot - most
distressing. At least I feel somewhat better knowing others are having the same
problem... I no longer think it's some kind of trojan.
A Google search for "nwwia" turned up a bunch of articles on the Japanese Xerox site,
some of which lead to articles on the Japanese Microsoft site, but I was unable to
find any equivalents on the english sites. Anyone in this thread speak Japanese?
