Your system should boot from your CD drive with the XP installation CD. You should
be able to go into safe mode by pressing F8 key rapidly a few times just after the
CMOS boot message on boot up. You must be running a old system. My system has a CMOS
setting to recognize my CD drive and boot up as a system disk. Has yours?
