I had the same problem initially but now it's solved!
Only proviso to that is that I have a Win95b machine.
Here's how:
Use the IPX/SPX protocol. It's specifically for this use. Disable Netbui. M/S discontinued
it's use for good reason!
The key in doing this is that in the Properties / Advanced tab / Frame Type must
be set to Ethernet 802.3 (I don't know if this is pertinent to the actual network
card, however...) Without this it won't work.
Also initially remove the tick from the TCP/IP check box on the XP machine (you'll
need it later for ICS, but get it out of the way while getting the network to work)
The Win95 to XP connection can still be intermittent, but Disabling and Enabling
the connection on the XP sometimes jump-starts it again, otherwise a re-boot.
Now, I have done file transfers in both directions. Today I even managed to print
directly from the Win95 to the usb connected printer on my XP machine. The wonders
of technology! Thanks, Bill!!
Now to try and make ICS work from the Win95 --- anyone know if it's possible? I'm
not getting any response at the moment.
