I have the same problem on my new P4 1.6 XPHome.
I`ve tried all the suggestions on this and other forums but to no avail - the only
solution I hav`nt tried is swapping the keyboard - apparently this is a major shut
down problem too. XP does not like legacy keyboards for some reason but I am not
going to change mine as I have CD buttons etc.
