I, too, have been tinkering with shell32.dll. It would be a very simple process
of replacing the the AVI files with a static image, or even your own creation. The
problem is replacing the current version of shell32.dll, which is in use from the
moment Windows starts.
Here are some Ideas:
If you have winXP on a FAT partition, you MIGHT be able to use DOS to copy the new
file over.
If windows is on an NTFS partition, you would need to
boot to the recovery console to access the file outside of the operating system.
Again, I have tested neither of these methods. If anyone succeeds, please let me
know.
