I'm not sure what means you used to set up your network, but the simplest for a novice is to use is the network setup wizard. The only protocol that you need for the interoperability of your network is TCPIP. IPX is used to communicate with Novell Networks and Netbeiu is a simplistic protocol that can communicate between the internal resources but has nothing to do with external communications to the Internet. TCPIP will do it all. An advantage to using the Network Setup Wizard is that, it will show you a picture of how your internal topology should be setup for the various options and at the end op the process it can write out to floppy the "right stuff" to be setup on your clients. Of importance is the concepts of IP addresses, subnet masks, gateways, and DNS. Your ISP generally sets this stuff up using DHCP everytime you log in. Some use static values, but most don't. On your internal side you must provide the same services. One way is to use static values, the other is to use DHCP, the other is to set it up statically. Try the resources XP provided, I think it will work for you. The first choice in the wizard is the one that I think applies to you.
