I have Packard Bell (Easy Note) with Win 98 pre-installed on it. I have a desktop with WinXP, i was able to transfer over 1GB worth of data through simple Direct Cable Connection. I have changed my Win 98 to Win ME, and since then I haven't been able to connect again to XP! I followed the same instructions on setting up a direct cable connection as i did with 98! Win ME isn't liking Win XP... it tells me it can't find the host computer even though they are connected! But I will look into this deeper and inform you for any development.
