I wont state the obvious about how stupid this situation is so on with the solution that worked for me. Visit Downloads.com and get DcShare 3.2. Its designed to let DCC computers share an internet link however I set my XP machine up as a DcShare Host and my 98 machine as a guest. With the programs running I found when I ran the windows DCC guest on the 98 machine it managed to find the XP computer name thereby giving me access to the file folders. Best of all DcShare is free! Hope it works for you.
