I am leaning towards it being overheating, because my PC is in a small cubby hole I made for it under the stairs. It can get a bit hot in there, and last night I was sweating just sitting there. And no, it had nothing to do with the websites I was visiting! I did spend a bit of money on a really good CPU heatsink and fan, and the power supply is quite new. I also have a case fan installed. But my hunch is that you're right.
