Sory about that..when i went to preview the message, the computer must have erased my message. Grrs.. Yet another annoyance on a day of annoyances! Well onto my post... I am having a similar problem with trying to add a windows xp computer to a windows 98 peer to peer network. I have some compuetrs on static ips and one that uses the NetBeui protocol to share files. It does not have a static ip and getting one is not an option. I have tried all of the Microsoft suggested fixes but none of them have solved the problem. Not enabling NetBios over TCIP.., not enabling the Guest account... not giving the other computer's user a user account and a password on the XP computer.. Not even.. adding NetBeui to the XP computer (found the way to do that on a webpage).. So if anyone can help.please do so... As this point I am very annoyed with windows XP.
