run ipconfig from command prompt in xp and winipcfg in 98 command prompt.
also go to run line and type \\computer name of other machine on the network and
come back with the results from both machines trying to reach the other machines.
workgroups must be the same in both ,and ip addresses must be almost the same with
just the fourth set of octects differing for communication to work. example is as
follows 192.168.0.1 xp
me 192.168.0.2 me
if the first 3 sets dont match they will not communicate over the network thru tcp/ip
and you will need to add nwlink ipx/spx to both.
