Spooler problem

I recently added a Kodak Picture Maker Printer (lexmark) to my laptop, running Windows
Xp Home Edtion. I had been having problems on my Desktop PC using the printer using
the USB conection so I thought it would be better on the Laptop using XP.
This proved to be the case until I repeatedly received a new hareware dialog box
for a printer. This would not go away and I finally thought I would uninstall the
printer using the unistall software from Kodak. The unistall worked well and then
I tried to reinstall the software after a reboot. This is where my problems begun.
There is a dialog box appearing : spooler is not started would you like to start
it now?...
... I select yes and then nothing happens. When I look in the Printer folder (control
panel) There are no printers intalled, not even the microsoft fax option.
Another problem is that i cannot find the XP disc.
Could someone help me to resolve these issues.
Would it be hard to fix if I could find the XP disc?
Thank you in advance,
Richard
