Unless it was a pretty old program, it shouldn't have been 16-bit.
Check under C:\ to see if you have an autoexec.bat file that may be causing a problem.
(it will likely be a hidden file. There is also an autoexec.nt file under your
system folder. If you just do a file search for autoexec, they will both show up
in the search window and can be looked at with notepad (make sure to uncheck the
"always ope..." box before telling it to open :-)
