In response to this problem of the incorrect parameter, I have come across this a
few times whilst trying to install xp prof, the way I get round it is to set the
pc up as basic as possible. i.e. One hard drive (Master) and one CD Drive (as the
slave) on the same IDE cable. I remove all the cards and only plug in a graphics
card, a mouse, a keyboard and some memory. It has worked every time so far, although
it seems that some of the more complex graphics cards have issues so it is safer
to use the most basic you can find.
