windows update not working Saturday, September 21, 2002 at 1:58 am Windows XP Annoyances Discussion Forum Posted by mahman (1 messages posted) hello, i don't know if this is the right place to post but if anyone could help, thanks when i try to do windows update.. i'll click "install now" and it'll go through the process of updating.. two things happen 1) some of the updates a box will pop up and says something to the effect of "this software will not be installed" 2) after it's all said and done... NONE of the files have been installed.. they are all in red on the windows update page... also, when i try to install service pack 1, it says something is wrong with the update.inf file and to turn on cryptographic service.. so i do... but it still doesn't work.. can anyone help pls? thanks!
