When you setup the 98 machine, did you use the XP CD to do so? If not, that may
be your problem. Try inserting the XP CD in the 98 machine. I autoplay is on, it
should come up with a window asking what you want to do. Click on "Perform additional
tasks", then on "Setup a home or small office network". Just follow the wizard to
complete setting up. And, be sure to have it look at the HOME workgroup.
I had this same problem until I used tehe cd to setup on 98.
If the above does not work, try setting the 98 machine to obtain an IP address automatically
and re-booting, rather than assigning 192.168.0.2. I have also found that assigning
IPs can cause the problem you are having as well.
