This might help. I have three computers: two xp's and a 95b. I used to have it set
up so that the two xp's could see each other and the 95 and one of the xp's could
see each other. I also had them all using ICS for my dial up(he he, I know).
YES, WIN95 DOES NETWORK WITH XP, WORKS WITH ICS, SHARES FILES AND PRINTERS WITH XP,
AND A BUNCH OF OTHER THINGS... OK...
well, anyway, just thought we would get that out in the open... :)
Now then. Im not saying that this is the ultmate solution, but it worked great in
my situation... sorry this is so late. you all probably have it figured out. anyway.
i had the three mechines hooked up with patch cables to an old linksys hub(nothing
fancy). I used the "network setup wizard" on the two xp mechines and got them working
pretty easy. now, when you use ICS, the internet conection mechine is assigned 192.168.0.1
automaticlly. then other mechines on the network that are setup to use the shared
connection are assigned by that mechine. before we go I notice that someone was saying
to use the xp network wizard on 95 IT DONT WORK PERIOD... so, i fooled around with
my 95 mechine a while and finally got it working. I added the 192.168.0.1 address
as a gateway, and a dns server on the 95 mechine. suddenly. that xp mechine and the
95 were sharing internet, files, and the printer :) it was great... now im trying
to get it all to work with the router and all... all the mechines have internet access,
but the 95 and the xp's dont see each other. the 95 responds to pinging, but the
xp's arent answering the 95's pings... it has to be some kinda security thing...
well, im going to keep trying... hope this helps
