I'm glad I'm not alone with this CD driver's nightmare.
Statement:
1. Driver file corruption wasn't intentional, it was corrupted by MusicMatch.
2. Restore points are useless; when you realize you have a critical problem, the
restore point is long gone (and I wouldn't like to restore software installed after
the drivers' being corrupted)
3. Microsoft (fee paid) phone help line told me to DOS run the EXPAND command and
reinstall all CD drivers.
(wasted money, I can NOT read XP setup CD)
4. MS advice: Make a DOS boot disk and include EXPAND.EXE. WHile on DOS, run EXPAND
D:\*._ys C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\*.sys. Catch 22: EXPAND doesn't allow wildcards like
* to be used. (error 39)
Any good ideas most welcome. Thanks.
