Thank you very much for your thorough and thoughtful response. After the last
Windows update, I haven't seen the problem, so I am now crossing my fingers. If
that doesn't work, I will go back and edit the registry again using 8.3 file names.
It took me a long time to respond because I was where I could not retrieve my
email for a couple of weeks.
