I've been able to get-rid of the Gain crap. This is pretty much what I did:
All of these files (at least) are associated with the adware: GMT, CMII, Gain.
RUN Regedit and go to the Software files in both HKey_Users and HKey_Local. Delete
all files that start with Gain.
Go to C:\Program Files/Common Files\CMEII and delete all of the files that you're
allowed to delete. I had to rename some of the files and then put them into another
folder before being allowed drag to the recycle bin. Empty the bin. Do the same
for the GMT folder in the same directory. Empty the bin.
Do a Search All Files for Gain. Choose the ones that you want and delete those too
if there are any left.
Try to restart your computer, you may have to revert to the last known good profile
and do things in a different order. Reboot. Check your HKey_Local_Machine registry
to see if the Gator folders show-up again. If it doesn't, you've probably got it.
Good luck.
