my system is a an Evesham build and my modem is a Smartlink Modem V90 (V92 Ready)
Driver 2.92.04F (2.92.4.180) for Windows XP. The following is pasted from the read
me file in theSL29204F folder:-
"Note on V92 functions.
V92 is a new modem protocol designed with 3 functions in mind. Faster Connection,
better transfer of compressed data and the ability to pause your modem to take an
incoming telephone call on the same line.
All three functions will only work with a V92 ISP but the latter one has extra provisions
to bear in mind.
It is commonly referred to by one of two names either "modem on hold" or "internet
call waiting".
In order to use the function you must have three things in place.
1/ A v92 connection from the Internet Service Provider
2/ The ISP account must support Internet call waiting
3/ Your telephone service provider must support Call Waiting and you need to subscribe
to this function and have it enabled.
If the modem is used on a line that does not meet all three of the above criteria
then phantom messages about "ignoring an incoming call" may appear.
To avoid this phenomenon look for a file in the c:\drivers\modems\SL29204F folder
called "SL_XP_hotfix_01.BAT" open this file and confirm the modem in the pop up box.
A black window will appear and disappear. Once it closes the update will have been
applied."
I have had no trouble since. I hope this may at least point you in the right direction
