This solution might not be solve your problem, but it helped me a bit. So far I did not notice any file corruption when I move files between drive or while downloading. In the bios, disable IDE Block Mode and IDE Prefetch (if you have any). It disable 32bit access since XP probably has problem with it. It is a MS documented bug in Windows NT NTFS which apparently was *supposed* to be fix, but it seems that it still exist in XP as well. I hope that helps you, it helped me somewhat.
