This is not an answer, just some more information. I also have the same problem with
just two computers networked together. One Win98SE and one Win XP Pro, both have
the same Workgroup name. They are not part of a domain. The XP Pro computer has simple
file sharing enabled, two ethernet cards, one connected to a cable modem and one
connected to the Win98SE computer via a hub. The Win98SE computer cannot connect
to shared printers or folders on the XP computer without a password. All the user
accounts on the XP computer have blank passwords.
