Besides moving the equipment around your home to find where reception works best? 
 Probably not.  Wireless reception is just not reliable compared to a wired connection. 
 

BTW, the firewall is active whether you use wireless or wired.  

All that said, the problem could be something else entirely...your router setup, 
your ISP, a windows bug, a warcraft bug...
