Originally Windows was a "shell" that ran no top of DOS. Because of this it was extremely
unstable and prone to crashes. People didn't like this, so MS went about to create
a New Technology OS that was NOT built on top of DOS. XP is the latest rendition
of Windows NT. There is NO DOS in NT. Why is that so hard to understand? If you want
DOS, go back to Win 98. Windows XP does have DOS emulation built into it, but it
is not true DOS, and some things don't work just the way you are accustomed to.
