I teach web programming and I naturally play around with different kinds of software/hardware.
The answer to your question is yes. Yes Apache server can be installed on both Windows
XP Home edition as well as windows 2000 server. However, if you are running IIS 5.0
then you may have to switch between the two web servers[IIS or Apache]. The best
item to find for installing is to find a Apache binary download site. Now I do not
even want to look at PWS, a mcikey-mouse Microsoft product which is flaky at best.
The onus of configuring the config file can be sometimes trouble some with Apache
installations.
I hope this motivates you to move further.
