If it is messenger you are having trouble with disabling, you need to goto run... in the start menu and type gpedit.msc, but this only works in XP. Then once the applet opens, you need to select administrative templates\windows components\messenger... Select both the options there and double click on them and scroll down to enable...(*note this applies to both main categories COMP. configuration and User configuration) this should prevent Messenger from starting when windows starts for all users. I hope this helps... If you do not have XP pro, I recommend you upgrade or you will have trouble with this for a while... Unless you disable Messenger service from the services.msc applet...
