Question about 'Windows Installer Appears Every Time I Start an Application' in WinXP with OfficeXP

Hi guys, I also have this problem where anytime I try to run a program like AIM,
IE, AOL, Games, etc I get the preparing to install dialog. However, when I try to
run WordXP, I get this problem and then the program doesn't eventually run like the
previously mentioned programs, instead I get an error that reads "This patch package
could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or
contact the application vendor to verify that this is a Windows Installer patch package."
When I try running the Office XP setup then in order to maybe reinstall and fix things,
I get the same error in a different looking window. Anyone got any suggestions, I
just need a workaround to use Word to write my college papers, please help me, thanks.
