Not the point. We require an environment to develop and explore ASP. It's a reasonable
expectation that PWS or some form would be included in XP HE as it had come with
the previous versions of Windows.
This is going to impact those of us who would like to learn ASP . . . certainly a
lousy way to advance M$ technologies. Unfortunately, many of us will gravitate into
the Open Source camp for just such an attitude on M$'s part.
As far as I'm concerned, if I purchased a previous version of Windows, then I have
the rights to use PWS included in that version. Set a 'restore' point and I'll try.
I certainly have no interest in speding upgrade money for a product that used to
be free and part of the OS. It's like most of M$ development tools (VStudio for
example). Who has got the money to keep buying them year after year.
But we play in their camp. Microsoft technologies are here . . . they are being
used and I would like to learn them if for no other reason than being able to tell
others why they 'should not be using them.'
