Since yesterday I am tired of trying it out to get them working. I thought that the
cable was out of order even though I bought it yesterday!
The lapton is a hp omnibook PII runnning windows xp while the desktop is a "nobody"
PIII.
As a matter of fact, when I restarted after plugging the cable in, the desktop installed
automatically a "modem" called direct cable between two computers configured to work
on port COM1. I could not change this to work on LPT1. However, I tried it on COM1
even if it is stupid, it did not work. After that, I tried installing a Direct Parallel
cable since it was an option in the standard modem installation alternatives. Problem
is there is no port to install it on!!! More, I let the cable installed on COMI and
I set as parameters that the connection use either COM1 or LPT1. It did not work
either. I am quite desperate!!!
